Seniors Pre Season Games

A pre season ‘carnival’ has been organised for the Redbacks Seniors on February 21 and 22, 2009. The carnival will be played in Warwick and games will be played against Warwick, Goondiwindi & Lismore. For further information contact Darren Webb on 0411765447

Southern Redbacks Family Day

There will be a training session followed by a Redbacks family day on the Gold Coast on January 18, 2009 - venue and times to be advised. All Redbacks welcome.

Pre Season Training

The final run for 2008 will be at Glen Logan Park on Sunday December 14 commencing at 9.00am.

Training will re-commence on Tuesday January 6, 2009 at 5.00pm until 6.30pm at Glen Logan Park, and continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Training is for all under 14’s, 16’s, 18’s and Seniors.

Pre Season Training

Southern Redbacks Pre Season Training will commence on Sunday November 16, 2008 at the Glenlogan Park grounds. This will commence at 9.00am and is open to all under 14, 16, 18 and Senior players for 2009. It is suggested that runners and boots be brought to all training sessions. REDBACKS 4.6.30

The Southern Redbacks hosted Aspley this week at Glenlogan Plark. With Aspley sitting in 3rd position on the Division 1 Ladder the local boys were to be on their game to be competitive with the Hornets.

The first quarter was an even contest with Aspley scoring 2 goals to the Redbacks 1, our goal coming from a
strong mark to Sam Usherwood 40 metres out from goal.The second quarter went in favour of the visiting team who used the windy conditions to their favour kicking 3 goals for the quarter.

Down by 4 goals at Halftime the boys came out with plenty of intensity and matched it with Aspley with both teams kicking 2 goals each, courtesy of Matthew Scarafilo and Simon Philippi. The last quarter we managed 1 goal kicked by Mitchel Brodtman and the opposition kicked a further 3 goals to run out winners by 42 points. Congratulations to Sam Usherwood for playing his 100th game for the Southern Redbacks.

Best Players: James Gautrey, Jacob Knights, Sam Usherwood, Matthew Scarafilo,Andrew Davidson,Brett Boyle.

The Southern Redbacks Under 8 Black team played Beenleigh Gold at Springwod on Friday night. The game was very competitve with many goals scored by both teams. Crystal captained the Redbacks and James won the Brisbane Lions award while Jackson and Luke both received a McDonalds encouragement award.

The Southern Redbacks Struddy Sports Jimboomba under 12s

The Southern Redbacks Struddy Sports Jimboomba under 12’s played West Juniors on Saturday at Toowong. Even though we were short on numbers, the Redbacks came out firing from the start to have a 6.3.39 to 1.1.7 lead at quarter time. After that, Wests picked up their game, and it was only with sheer guts, determination and clever football that the Redbacks held on to win.

A committed team effort resulted in the final score of Redbacks 6.3.39 to West Juniors 4.8.32.

Luke Gittens did a brilliant job at full back, stopping many sure goals.

Josh Armstrong was outstanding all day from half forward to fullback.

Tim Tate played his 100th game for the Redbacks in outstanding fashion, dominating play all over the ground, while Nathan Turtle put in an outstanding performance on the wing in his best game of the season. John Duncan was also a standout player with many possessions and clever football.

Congratulations to all for undoubtedly the best performance of the year.

Goal Scorers were Josh Brookes (2), Tom Jellie (2), Tim Tate and Nathan Turtle.

Players of the match were The Whole Team. !!!!!

Last week, The Southern Redbacks Struddy Sports Jimboomba under 12’s played Springwood at Henderson Rd. In average conditions, the Redbacks started the game well, and continued dominance throughout the game. With full credit to our halfback line, the ball never got within 30 metres of our goals. This effort and determination resulted in a significant win of 4.11.35 to 0.0.0.
